About

My name is Colin Jacobs. I’m a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing at Swinburne University in Melbourne, Australia.

After a career as a software engineer and software architect (among other detours, including four years in professional politics) I am studying the application of modern machine learning, particularly deep learning, to astrophysics, including gravitiational lensing and the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope. See my intro post for more.

My other writing, including politics, technology and media, can be found at coljac.net.
